Christmas is known as a time of giving. Footballers are among the many celebrities who visit hospitals to cheer up ill children.
It’s not the only celebration period when they do the same, though. New England Revolution players, indeed, are regulars at Boston Children's Hospital, and their annual Halloween is an extra special visit.
They dress up in endearing costumes – there was Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, Spiderman, Michaelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Cat in the Hat, among others – and have a whole lot of fun with the kids.
“It’s fun for us to get to dress up, hang out with all the kids, getting to chat to them,” said Luis Soffner. “We had a lot of fun in there – we had a little dance party in there and we even made a movie. It’s fun for us, very rewarding. It hopefully makes their day better and it obviously makes ours.”

Fellow goalkeeper Brad Knighton added: “It definitely makes our day a lot better and theirs as well,” said a delighted Brad Knighton. “You get to feel seven or eight years old again, paint pumpkins, and doing everything to see the smiles of these kids’ faces is unbelievable.”
And the above photo, of young Camryn posing with (from left to right) Darrius Barnes, Patrick Mullins, Knighton, Charlie Davies, Soffner and Steve Neumann, certainly vindicated that it was smiles all around.
The Revs may have left their supporters gutted when they lost to LA Galaxy after extra time in the MLS Cup, but the admirably thrilled at Boston Children's Hospital a short while earlier.
